Accord celebrates the one-year anniversary of the Fawdon factory

The team at Accord Fawdon recently celebrated the factory’s one-year anniversary with cakes and reflections on the successes of the past year.

Opening with just 60 employees the factory now employs 200 and is growing at a pace towards its target of employing 500 people by 2020. In the past year our employees have worked hard to help the factory become part of the local community. Lead by Steve Panton employees are currently carrying out a medicine safety project with North Fawdon Primary School with plans for more collaborations in the future. Employees have also raised thousands of pounds for charity.

Over 110 million tablets leave the factory every month for use in conditions such as Alzheimer’s and also for use in chemotherapy and the factory is continuing to be an important part of the company’s presence in Europe.

Accord Fawdon has also been working with local companies to enhance its energy efficiency by implementing a range of sustainability initiatives at the site including such as lighting improvements and compressor replacement. As a result, Fawdon now uses 100% renewable electricity and sends zero waste to landfill.

Keith Daniels, Site Head at Accord Fawdon, said: “As we celebrate our first anniversary, I can’t express how proud I am of what we have achieved and our employees who have made it happen. The factory is experiencing fast growth and it’s exciting to see our ambitious plans coming together. The local community has really made us feel so welcome and it’s been great to become more closely connected to it through our school project and charity work. We look forward to the year ahead.”
