Fawdon continues to grow and forge closer relationships with the local community

Our Fawdon factory in Newcastle recently welcomed Cllr Ged Bell, from Newcastle City Council and Keith Daniels, Site Head was able to bring him up to date with the latest news from the site.

After the factory was officially opened in January the site has grown its workforce by 81 employees and is focused on creating up to 500 positions available over the next three to five years. Through building relationships with the local educational establishments from both private and public sector Accord is keen to support both graduate and apprenticeship schemes in the future to form part of the workforce.

Keith explains the company is also looking at enhancing sustainability at the site: “We’re currently looking at environmental projects to help to reduce waste and help the factory to make efficiencies. This also includes looking at how we can use renewable energy.”

Forging closer links with the local community is a high priority for Keith and his senior management team. This includes local emergency services to support emergency response planning at the site, to work with schools and support local projects where possible.

“I have recently agreed to be a Governor in the local primary school at Fawdon, “continued Keith. “As we grow we will have a larger workforce who I’m sure will want to become more engaged in working with the local community and helping the area to thrive.”
