PAG

At Accord we are united by a shared purpose of putting patients at the centre of everything we do. Our aspiration is to be seen as a true partner for progress for patients, their families and loved ones.

Only by partnering with the patient community can we truly understand how to improve more people's lives and help them enjoy greater quality of life for longer.

Our goal is not just to listen, but to work together in partnership, to implement innovative healthcare solutions for those most in need, in the most inclusive and complaint manner.

This can only be achieved through open dialogue, trust and collaboration which mirrors our core vision of making it better.

Why

Affecting positive change to improve outcomes must start with patients themselves, only by listening to them and their needs can we begin to provide meaningful support.

We are committed to doing this, working directly with patient groups and advocates from various disease areas to help us improve our strategies and the services we are able to support and provide.

Patients themselves are uniquely placed to provide the true picture of what it is like to live with a specific condition, how care is delivered, how that impacts on them, and those around them, and how medicines and other treatments can improve their quality of life and best meet their needs.1

PAGs bring valuable insights and activities Accord alone cannot. They represent, mobilise, and empower patients, advocating for their rights. Collaborating with Accord could raise awareness of their significant value added, whilst creating an open and transparent dialogue between patients and Accord, in an authentic, compliant way.

We challenge ourselves to listen to them, learn from their feedback and adapt our approach accordingly at whatever point in the company it is required.

Accord’s position

Accord respects the independence of patient organisations and will adopt an impartial and equitable approach when collaborating with them on initiatives to ensure there are no real or perceived conflicts of interest.

We will achieve this by always completing a thorough audit, and by working with a diverse range of groups, co-creating objectives with patient groups where there is a clearly identified patient benefit and legitimate need.

In summary our key principles for engaging with the patient community include:

  • Securing valuable patient insights, from early stage and throughout the development process, to support the delivery of solutions aimed at patients only where there is a legitimate need.
  • Maintaining a clarity of purpose to build partnerships and support projects which help to address system recovery, elevate shared decision making and tackle health inequalities.
  • Operating with integrity, transparency and mutual respect in all our interactions with patients and patient advocates.
